The Red Skull Has Evolved Into Thanos

Speaking of the Red Skull, the MCU has been known to shake up a villain origin or two. Ivan Vanko was a mix of the comic book villains Whiplash and Crimson Dynamo, while the Mandarin was a complete reinvention of the mythos. Even recently, with Zemo in Civil War, no longer a Nazi, but a Sokovian solider who wanted to get revenge for the death of his family. Given that, there’s a good chance someone else will have their back story changed.

One drastic theory is that after being sucked into the Tesseract, the Red Skull evolved into Thanos. It’s evident that he’s not dead, as we didn’t see him die, just get sucked into the cube, and the producers have let it slip that he’s out there, but has he turned into a Mad God?


This theory could hold a little bit of water, but not much. We know that exposure to the stones can grant powers (look at Scarlet Witch and Quicksilver) and with the Skull’s super soldier serum, it could have easily mutated him into something else. And since he was obsessed with mysticism, science and power, perhaps he learned about the stones and is now trying to collect them. While this is a huge stretch, I’d be surprised if there wasn’t some sort of connection between the two. But that’s just my theory.

Any other theories out there that you’ve heard? Guess we’ll just have to find a way to creatively kill time until we get some answers to what’s coming next in the MCU.
