Marvel 's Inhumans Is Dead Last On Box Office Charts This Weekend

Image
The weekend box office estimates (Fri-Sun) are in, and things aren’t looking great for  Marvel’s Inhumans . The movie brought in just $2.6 million globally, earning it the last place in a chart of 25 films tracked by  ComScore . Amongst 18 features with domestic box office takes this weekend,  Inhumans  ranks 15th, with $1.5 million. Dunkirk clearly won the weekend from a global perspective, raking in $36.5 million for its openings in China and Italy. The Hitman’s Bodyguard won in the U.S., with $10.25 million. Still, this Labor Day weekend is the worst in terms of overall domestic box office revenue since 1999. Though  Inhumans  wasn’t expected to bring in big bucks at the box office, the negative reviews and press circling the show like vultures doesn’t bode well for its future when it debuts on ABC on September 29th. With no money and a net negative word of mouth gained from it, one might wonder what purpose was served by releasing the show’s first two e...

Chris Evans Says Marvel Doesn't Miss

Marvel Studios has been incredibly successful, and the films of the Marvel Cinematic Universehave been some of the biggest of the past decade. And with the massive  Avengers: Infinity Wa r bringing together all of the various MCU franchises to take on the threat of Thanos, Chris Evanshas no concerns about how it will all come together. The  Captain America  actor told fans at Ace Comic Con in Arizona today that making  Avengers: Infinity War  and getting to work with other teams in the MCU -- specifically the Guardians of the Galaxy which fans have seen come to Earth’s aid in the trailer for the film -- marked the first time he felt part of the larger picture, and a big part of that is because "Marvel doesn't miss." "That was the best part of this movie, is that you really kind of, it really was for the first time for me feeling like... the first few movies it's almost like it's happening to somebody else." Evans explained. "You kind of feel like yo...

Why Was Vision Able To Lift Thor’s Hammer In Avengers: Age Of Ultron?

Image
Avengers: Age of Ultron’ proved a huge success in the wake of its predecessor, ‘Avengers Assemble’ – taking a combine total of almost $3 billion. In arguably ‘Age of Ultron’s’ most amusing scene, the Avengers gather at Stark HQ and, after a few drinks, decide to take turns to see who can lift Mjölnir, Thor’s hammer. Sounds easy enough, especially when you’ve got the likes of Steve Rodgers’ super-strength and Tony Stark’s Iron Man suit. But think again, because no one can lift Thor’s hammer.. unless they’re deemed ‘worthy’, that is. This, in turn, leads to the film’s other laugh-out-loud moment: the point where Vision casually picks up and hands the hammer to an amazed Thor. Everyone else is a bit stunned, too. But how is this possible? There have been a number of occasions where other characters in the Marvel Universe have lifted the seemingly immovable object – including Captain America. Twice – but in the movie world there’s no one who can. Until now, that is. The strongest,...

Why is Thor the only worthly Avenger? (VIDEO)

Image
Thor is considered worthy by Mjolnir but you can't figure out why he would be more worthy since he seems surprisingly lacking  in the general parlance of what we determine a"god" should look like. He lacks any sense of benevolence, omnipotence, or even omniscience To be fair, most of the Avengers are sterling individuals. They have proven, time and time again, willing to put their lives on the line for the Greater Good. Protecting the weak, righting wrongs, fighting against the forces of evil which includes the likes of Hydra, the forces of Utgard, the alien Chitauri and even truly monstrous foes like the Mad Titan, Thanos. But that isn't what Mjolnir is judging. Because at least until recently Mjolnir ISN'T judging. (We'll come back to that in a minute.)  Remember the spell he casts upon Mjolnir, through the force of his will? “Whosoever holds this hammer, if he be worthy, shall possess the power of Thor.” The spell which allows Thor to utilize Mjolnir based ...
